Feb 24th: A Conversation For Progress With Author Eitan Hersh
We are one week out from our next Conversation For Progress featuring political scientist Eitan Hersh on his book, Politics Is for Power: How to Move Beyond Political Hobbyism, Take Action, and Make Real Change. Click here to join us on Wednesday, February 24th at 10am.

Professor Hersh has a uniquely powerful perspective on what ails our body politic, both nationally and in Massachusetts. Here is what he said about our Commonwealth recently in the New York Times:
Here there’s tons of liberal energy and money to support taking big progressive fights to Washington. Meanwhile, our schools are segregated, our transit system is broken, our housing is unaffordable, our police force is a mess of corruption and there’s little pressure being put on the state legislature and governor to fix any of it.
This stems in part from what he calls Political Hobbyism, something so many of us are guilty of - but can change. The book lays out how the hours we spend “consuming” politics should be spent building political organizations, implementing a long-term vision for our local communities, and getting to know our neighbors, whose votes will be needed for solving hard problems. Whether it is segregation, transportation, housing, and so many other issues, this approach shows us how to channel our energy away from political hobbyism and toward empowering our values.
We encourage you to get the book. You can compliment it by listening to the author discuss the new book with Ezra Klein, NPR’s Hidden Brain or On the Media’s Brooke Gladstone - and you can join him in a Conversation For Progress at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 24th.
Looking forward to the discussion!
